We can all agree the onset of coronavirus has impacted families, communities and countries in tragic and profound ways. Just a short eleven weeks ago, our team was waist deep in Florida’s annual Legislative Session. We were laser-focused on delivering for our clients and it was near impossible to imagine anything else could dominate our time or attention. Little did we know, Covid-19 was waiting just around the corner and it would challenge us in ways we never imagined.
As initial news alerts swept across the state, it was clear that information and understanding were both sorely needed. We quickly worked to become researchers, writers, designers, editors and professional commentators. We stretched ourselves beyond the traditional role of lobbyist and we’re much better for it.
Today, Florida’s case count is stabilizing and as communities pivot to reopen, we’re ready to pivot too. Next week, we’ll be rolling out a new look and feel for our daily newsletter and, frankly, we’re very excited about it. We’ll focus less heavily on all things Covid and more so on the biggest news of the day from Florida’s political and business communities. We promise to continue delivering the funny and the important—that’s what sustains us after all within The Southern Group organization. In the meantime, as we prepare to roll-out our new look, we thought we’d give you a glimpse of how the last eleven weeks took shape.
In closing, we thank you for all of your feedback and encouragement. This has been an incredibly interactive experience—more so than we thought it would be. Over time we got better and we know we’ll continue to get better because of amazing clients and colleagues like you.
